She's there

It's 10:14 a.m.

Sam has officially been in kindergarten for an hour and 14 minutes now.

I've officially been at work for about a half hour, and I can't concentrate.

What's she doing? Is she behaving? Is the having a blast? Is she crying her eyes out?

I'm worried because she's been so excited to start school since kindergarten orientation a few weeks ago. But this morning, as we were in her room haggling over what she was going to wear, she said in her worried little old lady voice, "Mom, I just don't wanna go to school. I don't think I can go without you."

I wanted to tackle her and smother her in kisses. But instead I said, "I know it's a little scary, sweetheart, but you're going to have such a great time today!"

She got on the bus with no fuss. In fact, she bounded on, turned and waved like a beauty queen, then headed calmly to a seat.

I think I need some Pepto-Bismol this morning. I'm a walking cliche, and I'm driving myself crazy.

I will never forget the day my younger sister, Samee, started kindergarten in Mrs. Case's class at West Bradford Elementary.
I remember bc I could hear her screaming from the third-grade wing on the other side of the school building.
My mom came by the school to see why it was taking so long for my dad to drop Samee off.
He was on his way out. Samee was still screaming. And my dad had sweat stains the size of dinner saucers, my mom said.
