Hello to bye-bye

So Noah's finally getting the waving bye-bye thing. Today, as I dropped him off at the sitter's, he actually smiled and waved bye-bye to me.

The part I find funny is that he's not yet sure which things are appropriate to wave bye-bye to.

For example, we spent Labor Day at the new home of one of my nieces-in-law. Even though she doesn't have kids yet, she has her family room equipped with toys for babies through older kids (you can thank her two nephews and her niece for teaching her to be so prepared). So Noah and Sam spent the day crashed on the floor, playing.

Noah tried to perfect his Army-man crawl, then gave up and just started rolling himself to get to stuff he wanted. He smiled, he giggled and he entertained the masses with his overwhelming cuteness.

Then, at some point in the mid-afternoon, I noticed he was staring out the storm door into the backyard. He was flopped on his belly, with his head lifted high and his right arm up, waving. And I heard him saying, "Buh buh. Buh buh. Buh buh."

He waved buh-buh to the leaves on the trees for more than five minutes.

It was adorable. I melted. I proudly showed every one of my in-laws within shouting distance the miraculous thing my baby could do.

About an hour later, I heard crying. I looked down to see baby cousin Ella (who you got to see in a picture on a previous blog post) on her knees holding Noah's face down on the floor and ripping his hair straight up from his head.

For the record, Ella's daddy and grammy did NOT call other family members in to see how cute Ella was as she did this. *smile*
