So, since I told you all about Sam's pukiness, it's been a fun ride.
First, I got Noah's cold and subsequent laryngitis. Then, on one of those days when I had literally no voice, I got Sam's stomach virus.
I would like to proudly state that I managed not to vomit on bedsheets or the floor. I did have a disgusting encounter with a bathroom sink getting clogged and requiring some Drano, but I'll spare you the chunky details.
I was out sick for two days and spent my two regular days off lying on the couch trying to get enough sleep, which just didn't seem possible.
During that time, there was a giant snowstorm.
And then there was a blizzard.
I was stuck at work and a nearby hotel for two and a half days. Plus, the electricity in our building went out during the blizzard, and we had to trek to the hotel and set up a newsroom on the fly in a conference room.
Then I was off unusual days, which always messes up my schedule. And then I worked two night shifts in a row, then came back in the next morning for a full shift.
Point is, it's been anything but normal. Maybe one of those things, or even two, would have been easy enough to deal with. But put them all together, and the result is this:
I'm freakin' tired.
At some points, I got to see and enjoy my kids. While I was sick, I just mostly wanted them to be quiet -- a request that is a ridiculous thing to ask of a 6-year-old and 2-year-old when they're together.
During the first snowstorm, I did play with them briefly outside in the snow. During the blizzard, I didn't see them for days. And Miss Samantha was quite angry at me for that.
Things are almost back to normal, which means something else will happen to completely derail all my plans. I'm really hoping that, whatever it is, it doesn't involve vomit or snow.
