This aired during Strikeforce's Fedor vs. Rogers event. Looked like Rogers got more shots in on the video game than in the real thing.

-- First of all, I didn't catch the prelims, so I'm not sure how entertaining they were. Go to sherdog to look at the play-by-play if you're interested. They should still have it up on their site.

-- Werdum and Silva was a good, competitive fight. Werdum caught Silva with some hard shots, but Silva has an enormous chin that withstood those shots. Silva gave it Werdum as well, and I knew it would be a close one, I thought a split decision, rather than a unanimous one, for Werdum. What's next for him? Well, I'd say maybe he gets Rogers, because I think Overeem and Fedor will fight next, maybe in the spring? Don't know why, but big fights take a while to put together it seems.

-- I was surprised at Sokoudjou. I didn't think he would last that long against Mousasi. I think maybe Mousasi underestimated Soko and his improved ground game. It just seems that standing Soko is nervous, very jittery, like he's afraid to get hit, and that's definitely understandable.

Looks like a great night of fights - I gotta say, this main card is as good as most UFC main cards. Strikeforce looks to prove to CBS that they are nothing like the debacle that was EliteXC.
LOS ANGELES, Oct. 9 -- CBS, STRIKEFORCE, M-1 Global today officially announced the fight card for mixed martial arts' (MMA) return to primetime with CBS/ STRIKEFORCE/M-1 GLOBAL SATURDAY NIGHT FIGHTS, Saturday, Nov. 7 (9:00 PM, live ET/delayed PT) on the CBS Television Network from Chicago, Illinois' Sears Centre Arena.

"We're looking forward to delivering an explosive night of world class MMA action on CBS," said Scott Coker, Founder and CEO of STRIKEFORCE. "We have the world's # 1 fighter, Fedor, making his network primetime debut against an undefeated powerhouse in Brett Rogers and, with the stars lined up for the remainder of the card, it is bound to be an exciting night of television."

The following four primetime matchups are confirmed for CBS/ STRIKEFORCE/ M-1 GLOBAL SATURDAY NIGHT FIGHTS on Nov. 7:
 Fedor "The Last Emperor" Emelianenko vs. Brett "The Grim" Rogers
 Jake Shields vs. Jason "Mayhem" Miller (Middleweight Title Fight)
 Gegard "The Dreamcatcher" Mousasi vs. Rameau Thierry "The African Assassin" Sokoudjou
 Fabricio "Vai Cavalo" Werdum vs. Antonio "Big Foot" Silva
(All bouts are pending approval by the Illinois Athletic Commission.)

Fedor Emelianenko and Brett Rogers will face off in a heavyweight main event for Strikeforce on Nov. 7 on CBS, according to sources close to the event. A venue for the event is still to be announced.

An official announcement from CBS and Strikeforce is expected Thursday. The CBS Corporation owns premium pay channel Showtime, which has a multi-year broadcast deal with Strikeforce.

The bout will be the first of three for Emelianenko, the world's top-ranked heavyweight, with the promotion and will mark his first bout in a cage.

I don't know that I've ever seen a highlight video like this one. Typically, highlight videos show the triumph of the sport, the winning - the knockouts, the submissions - usually paying homage to one fighter. This is a compilation of the sport's lows - the intense physical and mental punishment that MMA fighters absorb. The one scene that sticks out for me is the head kick by Cro Cop on W. Silva, followed by the head kick he took from Gonzaga. Like Frank Sinatra said, "You're ridin' high in April, shot down in May." For that reason, I believe they are the world's greatest athletes. We as fans owe them a great deal.

best fighter in mixed martial arts today, and the man who plans to
conquer him in his next fight.

Fedor Emelianenko holds the distinction of being both the best
heavyweight and top pound-for-pound fighter in mixed martial arts
today. He also is the top mixed martial arts fighter of this decade,
and many would add the best heavyweight and even the best overall MMA
fighter of all time.

After defeating a virtual who's who of the heavyweight division, Fedor
will now have another confident challenger as he takes on the unbeaten
Brett Rogers. This will be on a Strikeforce-M-1 Global card this fall
at a date and location which will be shortly finalized. This card will
be shown in the U.S. on Showtime.

We had a chance to conduct interviews with Fedor Emelianenko and Brett
Rogers this Thursday evening while they were in New York on a
whirlwind media tour. When you listen to these interviews, you will
learn not only how both fighters are approaching this fight, but also
life.
