from mmajunkie.com:
Maybe we can finally stop with the running jokes.

With Mark Coleman forced to bow out of a UFC 106 clash with Tito Ortiz (15-6-1 MMA, 14-6-1 UFC) due to an injury suffered in training, Forrest Griffin (16-6 MMA, 7-4 UFC) has stepped up to fill the vacant role.

Yahoo! Sports was the first to report the matchup, which will serve as the co-feature of "UFC 106: Lesnar vs. Carwin" on Nov. 21 at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. The UFC has since officially announced the contest.

I posted a poster somebody designed weeks back, but I guess the UFC didn't like it and wanted to get Coleman/Tito in there.

"Banha" Cane.

from mmajunkie.com:
A light-heavyweight bout between Antonio Rogerio Nogueira (17-3 MMA, 0-0 UFC) and Luis Cane (10-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC) will take place at UFC 106.

Sherdog first reported that verbal agreements are in place. Sources close to the negotiations confirmed the news with MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) and said the fight was discussed as a possibility as early as this past weekend, though bout agreements have not been signed.

Randy Couture: Brock will be too much for Shane

This video was shot just before Couture's loss to Big Nog at UFC 102, but at the end, around 4:55 or so, he talks briefly about Brock Lesnar vs. Shane Carwin.

Lesnar and Carwin battle at the scales

ufc-106-poster.jpg
Thanks to Kevin Vickers from justbleed.com for the poster concept. Maybe the UFC will like it and buy the design.

Looks like Shane Carwin, who fights heavyweight champ Brock Lesnar at UFC 106, is trying to get his weight up to match that of Lesnar, undoubtedly the biggest UFC heavyweight champ ever.

In this corner: Lesnar, who revealed this on his youtube channel:
Weight Log
============================== =====
Previous Weight Logs:
August 8 '08: 265lbs (Weigh In)
August 9 '08: 289lbs (Fight)
November 14 '08: 265lbs (Weigh In)
November 15 '08: 276lbs (Fight)

Recent Weight Logs:
July 10: 265lbs (Weigh In)
July 11: 287lbs (Fight)
August 18: 304lbs (Pre-Training Camp) (After Workout)
August 24: 298lbs (Pre-Training Camp) (After Workout)
September 1: 306lbs (Pre-Training Camp) (After Workout)

And in this corner, Carwin, who blogged recently:
Question: How's your training going?
And, I know you usually weigh-in right around the 265 limit, will you actually put back on much weight after the weigh-in?
I know Brock usually puts back on quite a few afterwards.

Answer: Training is great all things are smooth.

I shoud be about 290 fight night

I think these guys are evenly matched. Both have great amateur wrestling credentials, massive frames and heavy hands.

Lesnar-Carwin to Headline UFC 106

Shane Carwin is the babyface to Brock Lesnar's heel - except in the UFC, the finish isn't planned out backstage.

By Greg Savage, sherdog.com
UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar will meet Shane Carwin in his second title defense at UFC 106 on Nov. 21 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.

Sherdog.com has confirmed the news through several sources with knowledge of the agreement. MMAMadness.com was the first to report on the card shift that will see Carwin move from a scheduled bout against Cain Velasquez at UFC 104.

Carwin has not answered calls for comment, but posted a message on his official Web Site Wednesday night.

"I can't confirm or deny anything. I can just tell you guys that I am training harder then ever and your support and loyalty will carry me through any fight they send my way," he wrote.

Lashley and Carwin video

|

Former WWE wrestler Bobby Lashley and Shane Carwin talk recently - I'm thinking it was at the UFC 100 expo? Anyway, maybe it's the camera angle, but Lashley looks to be a bit bigger than Carwin ... Not that it really matters. If Lashley can string together a few more wins - convincing wins over increasingly stiffer competition - we might see him in the UFC. Lashley's last win was against Bob Sapp, nothing that would really impress Dana White and Co. He said recently his sights are set on HW champ Brock Lesnar, but if Brock's still the champ by that time, he'll have to go through guys like Carwin, who have helped to make the UFC's heavyweight division one of the better ones as of late.

Do it again: Riggs and Diaz for Strikeforce 8/15?

MMAJunkie.com has some interesting rumors, so I'll run 'em down real quick:

- We may see Shane Carwin vs. Cain Velasquez at UFC 104 in Los Angeles.

- For UFC 107 in Memphis, it looks like native son Quinton "Rampage" Jackson will take on nemesis Rashad Evans, in a fight that will most likely determine the number-one contender to Lyoto Machida's title.

- Jow Riggs and Nick Diaz fought once in the UFC, and once unofficially afterward in a hospital ER. They make it official for the second time at Strikeforce's Aug. 15 event.
