Functional training is becoming more and more popular among tennis players who are looking to generte more power on the court. Functional training is a sports specific program design, incorporating body weight in all planes of movement. The benefits of functional training will enhance your performance by producing the optimal amount of force, in the least amount of time, and through the greatest distance. A functional training program will focus on your strength, speed and agility while keeping exercises sport specific to enhance your performance. An example: walking lunges/w medicine ball twist is a functional exercise for a tennis player because the movement is similar to your groundstokes. You will become stronger, enhance your core strength, and become quicker while swinging your racket.
