To conclude the game and to celebrate, BFBL will host a Scavenger Hunt Wrap-Up Party from 2 to 4 p.m. Aug. 10 at John Wright Restaurant in Wrightsville. During the event, guests may turn in their maps and sample some fresh, local food. The event also marks National Farmers Market Week.
Scavenger hunt participants have a chance to win prizes, such as a wine tour from Allegro Winery, a Community Supported Agriculture bag from Horn Farm Center and gift cards, among others.
Chairwoman Dru Peters said people don’t have to go far to find farm-fresh products, from fruits to vegetables to dairy to honey. BFBL has more than 55 partners in the area.
Peters said BFBL aims to connect schools with agriculture and chefs with growers.
“The local food movement is not a trend but a return to our roots,” she said. “We are a proud and active part of that change.”
