Meatout Mondays: Vegan barbecue riblet quesadilla

I am once again taking on the label of vegan. Due to some not-so-pretty flareups of my IBS, I felt that a vegan diet is in my best interest. But who said vegans don’t eat well and have fun? I … Continue reading

CSA Summer: Week 8, featuring Thai-inspired coleslaw, roasted cod with tomatoes

Not long ago, Jeff and I compared this year’s CSA from Goldfinch Farm to last year’s CSA from Miller Plant Farm. By this time last summer, we were getting inundated with squash, melons and sweet corn, whereas we’ve had nary … Continue reading

CSA Summer: Week 7, featuring roasted pepper-tomato salsa, cucumber tzatziki sauce

Last week’s CSA share from Goldfinch Farm was our most colorful yet. Check out the goods: This was the first week we got carrots, although we haven’t used them up yet. All of these vegetables would go great in a … Continue reading

Strawberry Shortcake

CSA Summer: Week 5, featuring two-bean/pea salad, trout salad

Jeff and I both spent at least five, if not six, days last week covering the 70th U.S. Women’s Open, so we went pretty easy on our recipes using produce from our CSA share from Goldfinch Farm. Here’s the goods: … Continue reading

CSA Summer: Week 3, featuring onion-scape flatbread and sausage-chard tortellini

This week’s full-share bounty from Goldfinch Farm was a whopper. As in, substantial and, therefore, difficult to photograph. Behold: The farm also offered up to 10 fresh sprigs of basil, but I decided to take two bell peppers — one … Continue reading
