August is not only back to school time for many students, teachers, and parents, but it’s also Kids Eat Right Month, a celebration of the need to teach children about the importance of good nutrition.
It’s not too late, we have two months left of free fitness classes this season, which gives plenty of time to burn more calories and gain strength.
When I picture summer I think about all the fun outdoor activities like swimming, running in the grass, playing basketball at the local park, gardening that can keep us active and healthy. What I don’t like to picture is how summer can wreak havoc on kid’s eating habits. I still remember a third grade teacher I was chatting with a few years ago recall to me how disheartening it was to see her students return to the classroom in the fall having added much more weight to their little bodies than what would be considered healthy.
There has been great feedback about the May No Sweat in the Park schedule and we hope you will make it out for our classes in June that will turn up the heat.
