I'm Joan Concilio, and thanks for dropping by my blog!
I've lived in York County since I was three days old. (Born in New Jersey, but don't hold that against me.) All through high school and college, I thought I'd be out of here as soon as possible. But things have changed, and now that I'm married and have a house, my husband and I have decided this is a great place to raise our 7-year-old daughter.
Where work is concerned, I have kind of a dual role here at the newspaper. I'm the editor for the four print Weekly Record editions that cover the suburban neighborhoods of York County (and also the editor for Your News, the occasional section in the York Sunday News that is produced entirely from reader submissions.) And I'm also the online editor, where I manage, among other things, these blogs, our story comments and our message boards. (That means I expect you to post comments here; if you don't, you might make me look bad!)
What that means is, in effect, I'm the "community editor," the person who deals with everything all our readers send in to us, and I love it.
There's a lot to love about York County. And there's a lot that's, well, kind of hard to explain to "outsiders" or newcomers. So please check back often, because I'll talk about the things we say, the things we do, the things we eat, and why the phrases "refreshments will follow" and "free" will draw a crowd to any event.
Only in York County!
