Buying the Best

Does anyone remember the “Best” department store that used to be where AAA is now on Eastern Boulevard?

One of my favorite memories growing up was when my dad would take me shopping for birthday and Christmas gifts for my mom. One year, not too long before he passed away, he took me shopping and we put together money that both of us had saved up to buy her a “pink ice” ring. As far as I can tell, that basically means it’s a nice, clear pink cubic zirconia. Hey, I was little.
Well, apparently, unlike Rax, which is smaller but still in existence, Best is no longer. It’s a shame; we got a lot of good stuff cheap there.
I guess that’s up to Ollie’s now.

About Joan

My name is Joan and I'm a lifelong Yorker. Throughout high school and college, I swore I was getting out of here as soon as possible. Now, a few years later, I can't think of anywhere I'd rather be. I love my town, and I hear every day from readers who love their towns, too. So please, connect with me and let's share what makes life in York County great. I'm here to help you enjoy this place as much as I do!
