In her Neighborhood Notebook for this week, Weekly Record correspondent and columnist Lori Badders highlights the excellent Shrewsbury Flower Show, which takes place this weekend.
"No need to travel to Philadelphia to see a top-notch flower show. There's a long-standing tradition of quality right here in York County," she begins.
From her column:
The 56th annual Shrewsbury Flower Show will be 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Shrewsbury Fire Hall, 25 W. Forrest Ave.About 100 entrants are expected to compete in 25 categories under the theme "With Their Hands," a tribute to American artisans and their craft. Another 50 or so will exhibit garden specimens.
In keeping with the theme, this year's show also will feature artisans at work. Visitors will see demonstrations of loom weaving, quilting, basket making, wood carving, chair caning and more.
Admission is by donation.
