Not that long ago, a reader named Joanne posted a comment asking if we accepted letters to the editor. I e-mailed her to check and see if she wanted to write about something I'd blogged on, or if she was writing about something from the print paper.
Joanne was nice enough to reply and let me know that, after looking at the YDR's Web site, she realized we were not in her hometown, which is York, Wisconsin.
I was glad she let me know, and also curious, so I did some quick looking around online.
First, I found Town of York, a site dedicated to the York, WI, in Clark County. But, it turns out, there might even be two York, Wisconsins - the other in Jackson County, WI.
The funniest part is, they're only about an hour apart, so I'm not sure which Joanne was looking for. (If you're out there - post and let me know? I'm very interested.)
The closest newspaper I found was in Eau Claire, the Leader-Telegram.
I know there are many Yorks across the country; in fact, photographer Bil Bowden did a cross-country series on "York, USA" in 2000. Read his view of York, WI
Anyone else been to another York? I've been to Yorks in Nebraska, Iowa and, I think, Indiana. I'll post more on those later!
