Another Yorkism, if you read to the end of the post - stick with me!
My daughter, who is 7, started second grade last Monday. We went through the shopping and the setting out of clothes the night before, but we didn't get as far as the trying-on.
Big mistake.
Sarah is, how shall we put it, "slight" of build. Skinny as a rail, if you prefer. And the two layered tank tops she'd been set to wear were not exactly providing any kind of coverage.
So I found myself on Monday morning, sitting in front of her bureau, calling out to my mom - "What do you think I should wear on her?"
Then, I actually said to myself, "Hey, I could blog that!" Sad, perhaps. But I've never heard that phrase anywhere but locally as a substitute for "What do you think I should dress her in?"
This one's kind of funny, because it's not like I'm doing any "wearing!" But I've heard this from several other local parents, so I know I'm not alone.
In case you're wondering, we found a nice white polo that worked fine with her pink camouflage capris. Photo to come, and since I'm making you wait, here's a free York County second-grader fashion tip: Camouflage is popular; her whole bus stop looked like it was set to enter a brightly colored war zone!
