Take a chance on some meat?

No, it's not going to give you E. coli. In fact, it's some of the best meat I've had - from Godfrey Bros. Meats of the Seven Valleys area.

So how do you get this wonderful meat?

Head to the Stewartstown Lions Club and Eureka Volunteer Fire and Ambulance Company's fourth annual meat bingo Friday at the fire hall, North Main Street in Stewartstown.

Doors open 5:30 p.m. and games begin 7 p.m. Refreshments will be sold by the Eureka Ladies Auxiliary.

The event, which features 23 games with meat prizes valued at more than $1,800, includes three special games: one seafood bonanza, one 50/50 cash game and one for a $200 gift certificate from Godfrey Brothers Meats.

Tickets are $12 per person. They can be purchased at L&L Citgo, 51 S. Main St., Stewartstown; from any Lions Club member; or by calling 993-3452.

And, because I think it's close enough to count as "Only in York County," I'll give you a sneak preview of this March Meat Madness Event (TM).

Head over the border to Parkton, Md., where the Post 256 American Legion Auxiliary will hold a fundraiser 7 p.m. March 7. The event is free, but bring your dollars and take a chance on the "chicken table," a pastime that was described to me a couple of years ago by one southern York County resident as "an incredibly fun game where you can win huge packs of frozen meat."

I'm not kidding. How much better can it get?!

Meawhile, if you're bored, check out this Web site. Can they really be making a movie about this?

Quote of the day: "I wonder what would happen if I Google image searched 'meat bingo'?"

I'd a big fan of eating dead animals, but that's a long way to drive for it:)
