We old time Yorkers are known to call a recipe a "receipt." I should know, because I'm an old time York gal through and through.

Okay, now you've really done it! Suite: When my elders (I was a mere child) went to buy new b/r furniture it was always to buy a new bedroom suite, as in "suit." Irons & wash: Once in awhile it still comes out "warsh & urn" my clothes. My grandmother would say "wooter" (as in wood-er)for water. I say ruuf for roof. Never been to Roots but usually I hear it prounouced like "boots." But if you're talking about the tangly plant parts under ground roots as in Utz.
I'm curious how else anyone says "milk."
You might be a York countian, if you buy a bedroom suite known elsewhere as a bedroom suit. And if you pour "melk" on your cereal instead of milk, you could call York your home. While other people do laundry on Monday, we do the wash and on Tuesdays we "airn" the wrinkles out of the "close" we washed on Monday. On a hot day in York county, a tall glass of ice "warter" hits the spot! If the shingles on your "ruf" look a bit shabby, it's time to call a roofer. You're deeply rooted in York if you drive over Lancaster way to "Rutz" market.
