Picnic food (part 2)

annieover.jpg

A gaggle of girls, including my daughter, got organized to play some game called "Annie, Annie Over" at the picnic. When it was over, I still didn't understand how to play, and one little girl had a ice pack on her head from where she bumped head-on into another girl.

OK, as promised, I do have photos of the yummy picnic food from Sunday, including hubby's rice and beans (see his comment on yesterday's post for the recipe) as well as local favorites like potato salad, baked macaroni and enough desserts for a thundering horde. As you're looking through, see if you can figure out what is missing from these pictures because they went faster than I could snap a photo! (Answer tomorrow!)

1. Baked beans

2. A yummy chocolate-chip cookie

3. The full dessert table (wow!)

4. The hubby's plate (his second trip through)

5. Some of the many kinds of hot macaroni
As a note, you must call it "baked macaroni" and not "macaroni and cheese," apparently.

6. Red-beet eggs!

7. A rhubarb custard
Anyone out there actually like rhubarb? This ended up disappearing, so I guess some people do... but it's not my thing!

8. The piece de resistance, HubbyRice (TM)

So... did you figure out what York County staple is missing? (Besides the meat, which doesn't count. We had grilled hot dogs and hamburgers, but that wasn't interesting enough for a photo.)

I love strawberry-rhubarb pie. The sweetness of the strawberries balances out the tang of the rhubarb and the combo is perfect. I just learned how to make my grandma's recipe for it. YUM!

Pepper slaw? Or chow chow?

I got it--deviled eggs!

Oh yea, Joan, it's baked macron-n-cheese. One word.
