Deena shared with me a local blog of interest called The Weekly Share.
It's a blog that relates one family's experiences with a CSA - a community-supported agriculture program - in particular, Goldfinch Farm near Wrightsville.
I had heard of CSAs before - in fact, a good friend of mine belongs to one outside Spring Grove - but I didn't know a whole lot about them.
So it was really interesting to read The Weekly Share and see how it works. (Oh, and check out the zucchini recipes - you'll remember I bought some zucchini the other day at Brown's!)

Community supported agriculture (CSA) is a term used to describe a special partnership between farmers and customers. The customers become members, or "shareholders," in the farm for the entire growing season, receiving a weekly share of fresh, seasonal, chemical-free, non-genetically-engineered vegetables, herbs, and flowers. The farmer benefits, too, from the seasonal start-up capital and additional labor. Shareholders and farmers together share the occasional challenges inherent in small-scale farming, such as bad weather and pests.
Sounds pretty cool! Anyone out there a CSA member? I'd definitely be into learning more.
I LOVE Goldfinch Farms CSA, I joined the CSA a few years ago and my family and absolutely LOVE going to to the farm weekly to pick up our fresh veggies and occasionally fruit. The veggies just taste so much better than anything I can get a the local grocery stores.
