There's definitely a nip in the air this week, as we approach Halloween.
That, and some photos that Jo recently shared with me, got me thinking about this guy:
According to the Old Farmer's Almanac, the woolly bear caterpillar's reddish-brown and black segments can predict how tough the winter will be. 'According to legend, the wider that middle brown section is, the milder the coming winter will be,' the almanac's Web site said. 'Conversely, a narrow brown band is said to predict a harsh winter.'
Anyone seen any of these furry friends? I'm taking a poll... what's your prediction for how many bad snowfalls we'll have in York County this winter? I'm HOPING it's one (or none!) but my bet goes to three severe storms. Comment... cast your vote!
Hum....well since I'm originally from Vermont(8 years ago)..my vote is....no where near as much snow as there!!! Where I grew up we often got several single storms that dropped over 20 inches and usually one or 2 with more than 3 feet. So since York usually gets no more than 32 or so inches in the entire season I'd say none. But Since York thinks 4 inches is a whopper then I'd guess 4-6. LOL Disclaimer: this comment posted very tounge in cheek. I love the little snowfall in this area. It's all relative folks!!! :)
