Happy Easter!

... or, if you celebrate Passover - or if you celebrate Easter, but not today - or if you don't celebrate anything - then just have a great Sunday! (For some fun trivia about eggs and their place in Spring celebrations: click here.)

If you DO celebrate Easter, today's "York County food pop quiz" is a super-easy one...

Just leave me a comment with what you had for Easter dinner! I'll be back Monday with a full rundown of my own family's feast, hopefully completely with photos.

Well, apart from the usual ham dinner, my grandmother always makes a coconut cake in the shape of a cross with jelly beans on it. (I won't be at their house this year... so I miss out on that cake!)

I dunno how Giant did it, but those .49 a pound hams are delish. True, most of the center slices are removed, but for my use it is an excellent ham. Maybe it was the outrageously-priced $1.39 a pound red potatoes that allowed the store to sell such low-cost hams this year.

Sorry, I'm not a big mac & cheese fan, folks, but you would have been served all the usual PA Dutch Easter fare like candied sweets & pickled eggs & red beets and, of course, mashed potatoes and wonderful ham gravy.

Hi Joni,
We had a spiral sliced ham since I am too much of a spaz to slice it up nice like our mom does:)
My oldest son is a health nut so I made this chickpea and broccoli dish and roasted asparagus. For those of us who just don't care, there was au gratin potatoes and potato salad. We also had tomato salad and cabbage with cheese and bacon (it's good, I swear.) Dessert was a coconut cake, but it was round (sorry Phil.) And lastly lemon bars. I can't wait to make ham and cabbage with my leftovers!
Love, Weez
