ABCs of York County: B winner, and vote for the best C

blogabcs.jpgSo the winner of the best B of York County is…
Bricker’s French Fries! This was also suggested by my brother-in-law Mike and seconded by Jo. (Though Jo says she doesn’t like their potatoes!) They certainly are ubiquitous, though – I can’t think of a York County event without them.
Now it’s time to start voting for your favorite C and to post comments with suggestions for the best D for next week’s poll, if you haven’t already.

Are you guys having fun with this? I certainly am!

About Joan

My name is Joan and I'm a lifelong Yorker. Throughout high school and college, I swore I was getting out of here as soon as possible. Now, a few years later, I can't think of anywhere I'd rather be. I love my town, and I hear every day from readers who love their towns, too. So please, connect with me and let's share what makes life in York County great. I'm here to help you enjoy this place as much as I do!

  1. Hubby says:

Considered Chips and Central Market but ultimately went with Continental Square.

  2. Mike says:

My pick for the letter “D” is Delco Plaza Mall. “Built sometime in the mid-70′s, Delco Plaza Mall was located on the west side of York, PA along the intersection of Route 30 and Carlisle Road” this quote is from the following web-site http://www.deadmalls.com/malls/delco_plaza_mall_pa.html

  3. Doug W. says:

D could be for “Dutch”, since York County boasts a large population of folks with Dutch heritage.

  4. jess says:

I missed A and B, but this is a really cool idea.
I have to protest against chow-chow for C. I saw the word for the first time a few weeks ago in the Lebanon Daily News and had to google it. Born in York County, and I never heard of it!

  5. Jo says:

What? A native who never heard of chow-chow? How could it be?
Joan–you need an “All the above” for “C” cause I cannot pick one over the others.
For “D”–I say Devers. Yokers are still celebrating the sacrifices those chaplains made more than 60 years ago. For Jess–if you never heard of that name–google it too.

  6. Hubby says:

    DeadMalls.com … what a cool site, Mike!

  7. lorie says:

Dover and our great high school band!!

  8. Tracey says:

Well, I agree with Lorie about the school and the band! But the rest of York County would be jealous…
But my family is PA Dutch, so I’m going with that too. Too bad Twiigs is blocked at work or I’d be voting for every letter!

  9. Jess says:

D is for dairy farms and farmers and produce!

  10. Southpaw says:

Had to go with chips. Maybe it’s the Hanover in me.
Oh God, it’s catching. Back to coal country I must go.
