Reader photo: York College rock

Another reader photo of an “Only in York County” sight:
What: The “rock” at York College of Pennsylvania
Submitted by: Dianne Bowders of York Township
Something unusual: Dianne writes: “Graduation Day is the only day of the year the rock is painted a solid color of green. Following graduation, the new grads are permitted to paint their names on the rock.” Well, yours truly – Joan – was a YCP grad, but I never got to write my name on the rock – at the time, only the fraternity and sorority members at graduation got to do it! (And various other people always snuck up at night throughout the year and painted other things on it.) It was definitely a campus hallmark!

About Joan Concilio

My name is Joan and I'm a lifelong Yorker. Throughout high school and college, I swore I was getting out of here as soon as possible. Now, a few years later, I can't think of anywhere I'd rather be. I love my town, and I hear every day from readers who love their towns, too. So please, connect with me and let's share what makes life in York County great. I'm here to help you enjoy this place as much as I do!
