ABCs of York County: W winner, and vote for the best X

blogabcs.jpgSo the winner for the best W of York County is…

White Rose! It almost goes without saying, doesn’t it?

Many of my loyal readers suggested this or voted for it, including Dianne, Tracey, Mike and Jo.

whiterose.jpgWhether you’re referring to the city nickname or the restaurant, it’s definitely a great descriptor for York. Read about how the White Rose City got its name over on York Town Square.

And, for a bonus pop quiz, the photo with this entry is of the “white rose” on the restaurant of the same name a few years back, which many of you know has since moved. The pop quiz is, where is that rose now? (This isn’t a hard one, if you’re local!)

About Joan

My name is Joan and I'm a lifelong Yorker. Throughout high school and college, I swore I was getting out of here as soon as possible. Now, a few years later, I can't think of anywhere I'd rather be. I love my town, and I hear every day from readers who love their towns, too. So please, connect with me and let's share what makes life in York County great. I'm here to help you enjoy this place as much as I do!

  1. Mike says:

    York Barbell
The White Rose is at Sovereign Bank Stadium

  2. John Loeper says:

The problem with 105.7 being the “X” in your poll is that it used to be the “Q”…and started out as a “W”…(WNOW-FM). ALSO, it will no longer be known as the “X” when the station changes its format , as all radio stations eventually do.

  3. Linda says:

Ok my suggestion for “Y” is York Barbell Guy. Ok so that’s really more than just a “Y” but as I drove down I-83 this evening he was back, spinning and looking awesome! You should check him out.

Yorktowne Hotel – built in 1925

  5. Jo says:
