More memories of Morris Drug downtown, and a question from a reader

Heard several good things from the photo and memories I shared back in January from reader Larry Good. Larry was talking about several former downtown businesses, and wondered what others remembered about them.
Commenter John Loeper writes, “I also remember Morris drug company downtown (in the first block of East Market Street). My brother worked there part time when he was in high school. They also had a store in the east end of town at that time.”
John continues with a question: “There was also a sporting goods store next to the Morris drug store just off the square. I remember my Dad buying me a basketball there. Does anyone remember the name of the store?”
Any ideas? A sporting goods store next to Morris Drug just off the square in downtown York? If you can help John out, leave a comment; we’d all love to know!

About Joan

My name is Joan and I'm a lifelong Yorker. Throughout high school and college, I swore I was getting out of here as soon as possible. Now, a few years later, I can't think of anywhere I'd rather be. I love my town, and I hear every day from readers who love their towns, too. So please, connect with me and let's share what makes life in York County great. I'm here to help you enjoy this place as much as I do!

I am not sure if the one you are looking for is Scott Stevens. I remember I used to get all my cub scout stuff there. Scott Stevens was down closer to Pershing Ave.

  2. Bill L says:

There was a sports store on the first block of West Market that sold Oriole tickets, hats, mitts, balls, t-shirts, etc.
