Sunday event update: Before we get to today’s reader photo, I’d be remiss if I didn’t remind you about two events going on today in York County.
First, the York County Heritage Trust’s 37th annual oyster festival takes place 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Agricultural & Industrial Museum (217 W. Princess St., York). It’ll happen rain or shine, and will feature an a la carte menu of oysters – fried, stewed and nude – plus apple fritters, baked goods, pork barbeque sandwiches and macaroni and cheese, to name a few. There will be all sorts of free events at the museum, including a Native American Dance group, guided tours and live music.
And second, come out to the West Manchester Mall and hit up the Dover Library’s used book sale from noon to 2 p.m.; that’s where our family will be, filling up bags of books on the cheap.
And now, back to your regularly scheduled reader photo of an “Only in York County” sight:
What: A view of St. Paul’s (Dubs) Church near Hanover
Submitted by: Tom Berkheimer of North Codorus Township
Something interesting: Tom writes that this view, seen from a helicopter, shows the beautiful location of Dubs Church. He writes, “Dubs Church is located in a beautiful rural setting, sitting atop a hill, fully within the Codorus State Park grounds. Views overlooking Lake Marburg in almost every direction a short distance from the church.”
