Only in York County: April 2009 Archives

Here's one for you:

Only in York County can you go to Wal-Mart at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday night and run into three or more families from your church - including the pastor's wife.

Also, a money-saving tip: Wal-Mart has 2-liter bottles of Pepsi products for $1 each this week, a pretty good buy. We stocked up. You might remember I'm a little crazy about Diet Pepsi.

And, you can get lots of flavors of Jiffy muffin mix, including my personal favorite, raspberry, which I can't find anywhere else in York County, for 64 cents a box!

(If you'd like, the Jiffy people will send you a free, good-sized recipe book. I got mine about three weeks ago, hence the search for raspberry mix.)

Sorry. Done my Tuesday morning "cheap and free stuff" advertisement now. Speaking of free stuff... did anyone get their free piece of "Kentucky Grilled Chicken" yesterday?

Earlier this week, Hubby sent me a post from Book Flaps, a blog by Jim Lewin, the owner of the York Emporium on West Market Street downtown.

Well, Hubby read that and his first thought was, he'd love to live in a dream world where we didn't need income and he could work at the Emporium and be paid in books. (You might notice his thoughts as the "anonymous" comment on the post above.)

I read that and thought, oh, wow, how romantic! Didn't really give it much of a thought later, though.

Fast-forward to today, when I'm reading my friends' Facebook statuses.

From my friend Mandy, it says, Mandy "is going to be on the emporium website with her fiance." It only took a second for it to click. My response?

"Wait, that was YOU? I read about that!" I said, and I sent her the link.

Only in York County.
