A filling Thanksgiving

| | Comments (0)

Hope everyone here had a nice Turkey Day. We just got back from spending two days with family in southern New Jersey.

And you know what? I'm thankful I'm from York County!

We did port one local mainstay over there - filling balls! Or, if you must, stuffing balls. But whichever you prefer, it remains the case that my other family members never saw it shaped like that before. "See, everyone gets the crispy part this way!" one of my nieces pointed out.

I agree!

York County nuts

Wait, I think that's most of us. And anyway, I meant the edible kind. Because you know I love York County food!

I just got word that the York County Heritage Trust Auxiliary will be selling fresh Schermer Pecans through Dec. 31. You can get 16-ounce bags of mammoth pecan halves and holiday-wrapped 12-ounce bags of chocolate-covered pecans, pecan caramel clusters or cinnamon-glazed pecans, all at $7.50 a bag.

Want some? Call 747-9121 or 757-1051, or visit the Auxiliary's sale table at Central Market from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursdays and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays.

Proceeds benefit the museums and educational programs of the Trust, so you can even go nuts (and maybe gain weight, don't say I didn't warn you!) for a good cause. If you want to see more about these goodies, check out schermerpecans.com.
