York County dog park discussed

| | Comments (0)

More than 40 people attended a meeting Monday evening to learn more about the proposed 16-acre dog park at John C. Rudy County Park in East Manchester Township. It is expected to be built at the northern entrance to the park this year. Development costs are not yet known.

In Manchester Township, a development was built near the spot where officials had planned to locate a dog park at Cousler Park.

Springettsbury Township researched the idea and found that the need is real and the dog park would be used extensively, Supervisor William Schenck said at the meeting. Then, officials realized that the site they had proposed would have been too small.

Features under consideration for the dog park at John C. Rudy County Park include double-gated entries, separate spaces for small and large dogs, pet waste-disposal stations, shade, benches, water source and a grass surface or other material.
