Pets eat the strangest things

Rose said it'd be OK for me to post as a guest. To give you some background, I have a 10-week old puppy named Snacks and two cats. Here is Snacks: snacks.jpg

Yesterday I posted the following update on Facebook:

On the morning walk dog tried to eat the following: a clump of grass, bark, a stick, a bottle cap and a cigarette butt - gross.

The responses from various friends and family made me giggle, so I thought I'd share.

From Andrea: Trotsky once ate a rat's foot. He's also eaten a piece of chocolate. Loki, meanwhile, ate an entire flattened frog, which he later threw up in the living room.

From Kathy: yummy--wait to you and Brad have kids and he adds crayons to his diet (:

From Megan: My cat likes to chew on drill bits and shoes. Is that weird for a feline?

From Ralph: His soulmate up here, Bailey, wwnt down the hill and brought up deer parts that had been dead a while - thats what Beagles do. With all the road kill in Pa. Snacks should eat well

I'm sure there are plenty of readers with funny (or scary) stories about what their pets consider food. Feel free to share!

i had a american bulldog that has since passed...his name was jake...he used to eat clothing!!! socks, underwear, my gym shorts when i was still in high school, pajama pants...anything he could get his hands on... HE ATE!!! we actually had to have 4 surguries on him to get the articles of clothing removed!!! he then came down with a very bad sickness last year and passed but he was something!!!

My kitties eat plastic or paper. We can't leave bags or books or papers lying around or else they end up with little holes and sometimes are shredded to tiny bits. I once had to pay for a book from college because my cat actually ate it. The teacher didn't believe me until he saw the book. Cats are crazy people!

my dog, emma, once licked clean a bowl of vomit from my son when he was sick. she also caught a rabbit and ate the whole thing, bones and all and could always be counted on to clean out the cat litter box. if i left the basement door open, she'd return 10 mins later still chewing with cat litter stuck to her wet little nose.

One day I was sitting out on my front step with my 10 pound Jack Russell/Chihuahua (Buddy) and a spider came crawling towards me. I am not too fond of spiders and I wasn't too keen for that one to approach me. Then to my surprise Buddy goes up to the spider and eats it!! I was astonished!!! He ate the spider for me!!!! That is one of the weirdest things he has ever done! It is like he knew I didn't like the spider!! He's a darling dog and I will never forget how he rescued me from that spider!!!
