March for the Animals event is Sunday (April 29) at Druid Hill Park

Maryland SPCA’s March for the Animals will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, April 29, at Druid Hill Park from (Registration opens at 9 a.m.) The money raised benefits the Maryland SPCA.

Registration for the Pet Costume Contest and the Smart Pet Tricks Contest begins at 10 a.m. The entry fee is $5 for each contest. Judging begins at 11:30 a.m.

Doggie musical chairs runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The winner of each round receives a prize. See how quickly your dog can move through an obstacle course of tunnels, ramps and hoops. The agility course is provided by Oriole Dog Training Club and sponsored by Petco Foundation. It is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is $5.

Attendees can watch as an energetic group of Mid-Atlantic Disc Dogs leap, jump and display their acrobatic canine skills, working with their trainers. This event begins at 11 a.m. and is free. Also, Maryland SPCA behavior experts will demonstrate simple training tips and answer behavior questions.

Children can visit the face-painting table or the pet safety table, where they can learn how to interact with dogs.

You can register online for the march — where you walk to raise funds for the Maryland SPCA — or at the event, and you can collect and turn in donations up to and including the day of the event.
