May 18

  • Personalized Greyhounds Inc. adopters and greyhounds will greet families from 11 a.m. t 3 p.m. Saturday, May 18, at the York Galleria, off the Mount Zion Road Exit of Route 30, in Springettsbury Township (York, PA). Adopters will answer questions about living with retired racers and how to adopt greyhounds as pets. The group has a few dogs in foster homes that are currently available for adoption and you are welcome to find out more about them. May 22-27

  • Stop by Sawyers, 210 N. Second St., Harrisburg, PA, through Friday to watch local artists turn plain doghouses into works of art during the Dog Days of Summer Doghouse Painting Competition. The finished doghouses will be on display at Artsfest this weekend, and you can help to choose the winners. Proceeds benefit Central Pennsylvania Animal Alliance. June 3

  • In an effort to keep dogs in their homes, the SPCA of York County offers free dog training with Deb Sangrey on the first Monday of each month. Registration is not required, just bring your dog to the SPCA of York County, 3159 Susquehanna Trail North, Manchester Township.
