Football legend and his dog perform at Purina Pro-Plan’s Canine Combine

Football Legend Daryl “Moose” Johnston’s 3-year-old yellow Labrador, Gunner, followed in his owner’s footsteps to greatness at the first-ever Purina Pro Plan “Canine Combine” a few days before the Big Game in New Orleans.

The event featured Gunner, as well as other incredible dog competitors, performing a variety of athletic feats such as flying disc, weave-pole racing and high-speed agility obstacles –- all within a football-themed performance venue.

Johnston is a former three-time Super Bowl champion as a member of the Dallas Cowboys and is now a pro football analyst. He and Gunner demonstrated how weeks of joint training with Purina Pro Plan’s revolutionary smartphone app, the Pro Plan P5, developed by Purina, helped take Gunner from a good dog to a great dog.

Pro Plan Performance Team trainer John Casey helped to demonstrate the app’s capabilities and showcased his dogs performing at an elite level.

The Purina Pro Plan P5 app is dog training technology that offers dog owners of all breeds and sizes specialized mobile lessons in agility, dock diving, flying disc, obedience, running and strength training. It is available for free via the Apple App Store. The app uses a proprietary algorithm developed by a team of veterinarians and canine exercise physiologists allowing dog owners to set, track and share personalized fitness goals for their dogs, based on breed, individual traits and body condition.

The Purina Pro Plan P5 app is part of the Purina Pro Plan SPORT product portfolio launch which offers three formulas to fuel athletic dogs based on activity level –- from everyday exercise to competitive performance.
