Does the full moon affect pets?

We’ve all heard the stories about how emergency rooms (both human and animal) and police scanners go a bit crazy during a full moon. I have to admit, working in the newsroom, it does sometimes seem that the police scanner has some of the weirdest calls during a full moon — or maybe just more of them than normal.

Dr. Jon of That Pet Place offers some full-moon stories from animal emergency rooms and veterinarians: Dogs at full moon and Cats at full moon.

And Astrologer Dana Haynes offers insights into how different phases of the moon may affect your pets at www.petplace.com/dogs/lunar-phases-and-animals/page1.aspx.

Do you notice any changes in your pets’ behavior during a full moon? I haven’t noticed a change in my cats, but then they’re always a bit crazy. :) Feel free to comment and share your pets’ full-moon stories with YDR Pets blog readers.
