Animal Rescue's Pet of the Week is Annie, a sweet girl who came from a puppy mill. She is a shih tzu possibly mixed with dachshund, since she has short, stubby legs and a longer body.

Annie is going to need a patient person to teach her the ropes of living in a real home. She needs to learn the basics, such as potty training, taking treats, trusting people, stairs, etc.

Animal Rescue's Pet of the Week is Buddy, whose previous owners had to move into a home that does not allow pets. He was taken to an open-admission shelter, where he was terrified.

That shelter called Animal Rescue of New Freedom, which is now caring for Buddy.

Buddy is nervous, but once he trusts you, he will be your best friend and will follow you everywhere.

HOKAFI's Pet of the Week is Dante, an approximately 9-year-old dog who was returned to the shelter because of fear aggression.

He's a loyal, lovable companion, but needs a home with someone who has strong leadership skills.

He has been wonderful with the shelter volunteers, and "smiles" when he sees them.

Dante walks well on a leash, knows commands, and is house-trained and up-to-date on vaccinations.

Heavenly Paws Animal Shelter's Pet of the Week is a sweet, buff-colored female cat, less than 1 year old. She's spayed, vaccinated, and ready to for adoption.

These three kitties need to find a home ASAP. Their owners are losing their house (in Seven Valleys), and cannot take the cats with them.

The owners have already moved out of the house, but a neighbor has been feeding the cats. The house no longer has heat. The neighbor fears the cats will be dumped outside if they're not out of the house by Dec. 15.

The cats are believed to be between 6 months and 1 year old, and spayed/neutered. The woman who has been feeding the cats said they look like they're an appropriate weight in the photo, but it's because they're fluffed up for warmth in the the cold temperatures. She said they're really quite thin. She offered to make a substantial donation of food, litter, etc., to help with the cats' care, if someone can foster or adopt them.
