Max is a goofy, lovable lug

| | Comments (0)

max2.jpg Max (GH-539) is a gorgeous 3-year-old neutered male with a dark red coat and the kind of box head you simply can't resist cuddling.

He is a goofy, lovable lug with a huge heart, just waiting for his new forever family to teach him and reinforce basic skills.

Max is a big boy at nearly 90 pounds. While there's not a mean bone in his body, a home without small children is necessary to avoid his bowling the kids over with his sheer exuberance.

His new family should be prepared to spend lots of quality time with him, giving him the loving structure and discipline he needs in order to succeed. He can be stubborn, and needs someone with a sense of humor, non-negotiable leadership and patience to help him mature into the Golden companion that everyone will envy. Max needs to attend an obedience class or two.

max1.jpgMax is crate-trained, potty trained, and walks well on a leash with a training collar. He is working on waiting at the door patiently before going outside, and his life feels complete when he gets to be around his people.

Although he has this teenage notion that he should be able to drive, Max rides well in a car and does not get sick. He loves going for walks and would thrive with an active family that would be willing to integrate him into their lives with very frequent play and outdoors activities until he is contentedly tired. It's true: A tired dog is a happy and well behaved dog!

A secure fence is a must for this Houdini -- no electrical invisible fences, as he would most likely run through them. Max also happily entertains himself with bones and durable chew toys.

Max does chase cats -- he thinks they're fully automatic squeaky toys that run), so a home without cats or other small pets is indicated.

A home where Max is the only dog is preferred, as he enjoys being "top dog" and he deserves/needs a lot of one-on-one attention. Someone who is home during the day to spend time with Max, including training reminders, would be an immeasurable bonus for him.

For details, e-mail foster@goldheart.org. An adoption application is available at www.goldheart.org.
