GoldHeart Golden Retriever Rescue's Pets of the Week are Maggie (GH-599), left, and Mikia (GH-600), right. They are 10-year-old littermates (brother and sister) who suddenly found themselves homeless when their owner died.
Maggie and Mikia have been together all their life and only ever knew one home until they were taken from that home very scared and confused and put into a foster home.
Both are adjusting to their new surroundings. They get along well with their foster brother and sister, and even think the cats are pretty cool.
They like to lie in the sun on the deck, and will stay by your side like they are glued to you.
They have gotten a clean bill of health from the vet except for one thing -- they are both overweight. Maggie weighed in at 141 pounds and Mikia was 167 pounds. Yes, they are large, but that's more to love and they have a lot of love to give. They are on a very strict diet and should be exercised a couple times a day.
The rescue's main goal is to keep this brother and sister together, since they are very bonded and already faced the tragedy of losing their human mom a few weeks ago. If you have room in your heart for two very large -- but very loving -- four-legged friends, these two will fill the bill.
