'Countdown to Woofstock' Yappy Hour

A Countdown to Woofstock Yappy Hour will be held 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 8, on the Train Wreck Deck at Flinchy's Restaurant and Bar, 1833 Hummel Avenue, Camp Hill, PA.

There will be 50/50 drawings and food and drink specials with a portion of sales donated to Central Pennsylvania Animal Alliance. There will also be friendly, adoptable dogs greeting the Flinchy's patrons. Music will be provided by local duo Echoburn.

Adopt-A-Golden Day

dvgrr.jpgDelaware Valley Golden Retriever Rescue will hold an Adopt-A-Golden Day 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, at Golden Gateway, 60 Vera Cruz Road, Reinholds, PA.

There will be an open house, with tours of Golden Gateway, the halfway house where the dogs are cared for while awaiting new homes. Pap's Place, DVGRR's on-site retail center, will be open for business. The shop has clothing, jewelry, cards, toys, treats and more.

Refreshments will be available for purchase in BLT's food area.

Adoptions will be made only to pre-approved applicants on this day. Those persons are encouraged to come early to meet the dogs, as they must sign up for the dogs in which they have an interest by 11:30 a.m.

Others interested in adopting will have the opportunity to meet the dogs and complete applications that day.

Attendees are asked not to bring dogs with them; only DVGRR dogs awaiting adoptioin are permitte on the property during the open house.

Menu includes pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs, juice, coffee, milk and cocoa.

The event will include a silent auction.

Cost is $6 in advance, $7 at the door; $5 for children 5 to 12 years old; and free for children younger than 5.

Pancakes for Puppies

"Pancakes for Puppies," a breakfast fundraiser to benefit United Against Puppy Mills, will be 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. Sunday, September 21, at The Pancake Farm, 1032 S. State St., Ephrata, PA.

Cost is $7.50 for adults and $3.95 for children 8 and younger.

A specially selected menu of breakfast items will be available. Bring your friends and family, pay at the door and enjoy some wonderful food.

Outside, there will be several dog rescues and a special young lady will be holding a bake sale. Proceeds from the bake sale and breakfast benefit UAPM.

Cat show & feline agility competition

A cat show and feline agility competition will be held 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 20 and 21 Maryland State Fairground, 2200 York Road, Timonium, MD.

A sign-language interpreter will be available for signing events and for individual communication. The event is handicapped-accessible, with free parking.

Guest veterinarians will speak on various health issues. The show will include 450 cats representing 41 breeds, including household pets.

Rescue cats and kittens will be available for adoption, and purebred kittens will be for sale.

Enter your pet in agility and/or household pet competition.
