Brownstone Lounge going to the dogs

| | Comments (0)
The Brownstone Lounge, 412 Forster St., Harrisburg, PA, will be hosting a "White Christmas" drag show in memory of Bryan Hupp at 9:14 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6. Proceeds will benefit The Dogs' Den, a nonprofit dog rescue.

The Dogs' Den is a rescue, NOT a shelter. The dogs are all kept in several foster homes. Bryan, along with his partner Chris, was one of The Dogs' Den's adopters and volunteers. Bryan passed away suddenly Sept. 5, 2007, and his friends at the Brownstone continue to honor his memory by supporting his favorite cause.

All performers will be donating their tips from the show to The Dogs' Den, and there will be a basket raffle and door prizes.

For details, call the Brownstone Lounge at (717) 234-7009 or the Dogs' Den at (717) 469-7325.

Gifts that Give

The Central Pennsylvania Animal Alliance will be participating in "Gifts that Give," South Central Pennsylvania's Alternative Gift Fair, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, November 15, at Central Pennsylvania College Conference Center, College and Valley Roads, Summerdale, PA.

"Gifts that Give" offers holiday shoppers an alternative to traditional gift-giving, and is the perfect way to get into the real spirit of the season. It is a way to find gifts that not only honor special people on your gift list, but also help others who are not on anyone's gift list.

For example, think of a person on your gift list who would be pleased if you provided help to a homeless animal in their honor. That person will receive a handsome card telling them about your gift. In addition to the opportunity to help some wonderful nonprofits, there will be live music and refreshments.
