Aaron Maybin (59, above), the most talked-about Nittany Lion during Rose Bowl week, finally met reporters on Tuesday morning.

They asked about his temporary demotion to second-team status.

They asked about his NFL plans.

What did the pass-rushing specialist have to say?

He accepted blame for the demotion, then simply handed out the company line, as expected, when the subject turned to the possibilities of starting an early pro career.

The demotion, which lasted only a day, came after Maybin said he was late for a team meeting.

As for the All-American defensive end leaving early for the NFL this spring? He refused to get into the debate, even though he already said he would petition the NFL to learn more about his possible draft standing.

Some have said he could be a top 10 pick despite being only a redshirt sophomore and labeled as a one-dimensional player early in his career.

"I'm not thinking about the draft right now. Everything is focused on USC. I'm not thinking about next year at this point. ... I don't want the focus to be on me at this point. I'll be doing my teammates a disservice if I brought the attention to myself. I just want to get the game out of the way and then think about it."
