The buzz here is building quickly 30 minutes before kickoff in the Rose Bowl.

 

Enough Penn State fans have already filed in to create a mini-whiteout through one-quarter of the stadium.

And one of the tunnels leading into the grand old place?

It was completely filled with blue and white supporters moving, ever so slowly, toward their seats.

The "We are ... Penn State" cheers reverberating everywhere, inside and out.

Of course, plenty of fans own a particular rooting interest in the game, like Scott Potteiger, John Pulley and friends, who shelled out $650 for airline tickets from York County to Los Angeles.

It's all to watch their good friend and former Susquehannock High teammate, Penn State redshirt freshman Chaz Powell.

They were ready, chests painted in blue letters to spell out "Penn State."

"Chaz is going to be  a special player," Pulley said
