Remember Franco and Lydell

Joe Paterno cracked up a room full of media this morning in preparation for the Outback Bowl, telling a story about two of his former star running backs, Franco Harris and Lydell Mitchell.
Someone asked Paterno about motivating players. So as an example, he brought up the former Penn State teammates.
NFL scouts wanted Paterno’s take on the pair back then.
“They were both great backs. If I told Lydell Mitchell, ‘Run through that wall,’ he’d run through that wall. If I told Franco Harris to run through that wall, he’d go up and feel if there was a soft spot.
“If Franco found a soft spot, he’d know what to do with it.”
Football fans remember Harris’ penchant for running out of bounds and avoiding hits late in his Hall of Fame career with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
