Beaver Stadium “whiteout” for Alabama game; other special Penn State home dates announced

The 125th season of Penn State football features a huge celebration in the second week — a famed “Whitehouse” event for the home game against Alabama on Sept. 10. All Penn State fans will be encouraged to wear white to the game with an expected evening kickoff.
Beaver Stadium’s capacity has grown from 83,370 to 107,282 since Alabama’s last visit in 1989.
The Sept. 24 game against Eastern Michigan is “Jersey Day,” in which fans are asked to wear the jersey of their all-time favorite Nittany Lion. Photo opportunities with “stand-ups” of favorite players will be available for fans outside the stadium. Those wearing jerseys will be counted upon entering and a top 10 countdown of the most popular selections will be held at halftime.
Last year’s winner? The combination John Cappelletti/Evan Royster No. 22 jersey.
Homecoming will be held on Oct. 15 against Purdue.
The Illinois game on Oct. 29 will be “Champs Day,” in which Penn State will honor all of their championship teams from the previous year at halftime.
Senior Day will be on Nov. 12 against Nebraska — the final home game of the season. It will be the Cornhuskers first visit to Beaver Stadium as members of the Big Ten and their first, overall, since 2002.
