Get your “awesome” cookies again on the way to Penn State

One of the things that draws so many people to Penn State games is the action before kickoff.

The tailgating, the stops at the Creamery, shopping on College Avenue.

It’s even about the drive to the game. And so it deserves mentioning how a recent game day tradition for those traveling Route 45 should be in action on Saturday before Ohio State.

David’s Awesome Cookies.

Fans familiar with the route between Mifflinburg and Hartleton probably know about the brothers (with help from their parents), who began selling homemade cookies from their porch five years ago.

The business grew substantially, several hundred dozen being sold on game days.

But the family moved last year and the porch has been empty ever since.

However, the business is being purchased by another family “that wants to keep everything the same,” according to father Sam Beiler.

The original bakers, David, 17, and Sam, Jr., 14, hope to be there on re-opening day.
