Kline, a redshirt freshman linebacker at Penn State, joins teammates Brad Bars, Pete Massaro and John Urschel. All are eligible for Academic All-America status.

Kline has earned a 3.92 grade-point average in the Smeal College of Business.

Penn State’s four picks are tied for the most nationwide with Nebraska, Duke and Northern Illinois.

The Lions’ contingent is led by Urschel, the junior guard and math major. He graduated with a 4.0 GPA last May and is working on a master’s degree in math.

Massaro, a senior defensive end, graduated in December 2011 with a 3.85 GPA in finance and is on schedule to earn a second degree in economics.

Massaro was a 2010 first-team Academic All-American.

Bars, a defensive end, owns a 3.84 GPA in finance.

The Academic All-District team was selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America. To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or above and be at least a sophomore academically.
