Bill O’Brien, Mike Mauti, Jordan Hill … the Penn State honors just keep coming

Penn State continues to roll in the postseason honors. 

Bill O’Brien was named the AT&T ESPN Coach of the Year and the Big Ten Coach of the Year by BTN.com. 

Meanwhile, senior linebacker Mike Mauti was named to the AT&T ESPN All-America team and defensive tackle Jordan Hill accepted an invitation to play in the 64th Senior Bowl on Jan. 26. 


Coach Bill O’Brien and linebacker Mike Mauti are the big postseason winners for the Nittany Lions

Mauti was joined on the All-America team by linebackers Khaseem Greene (Rutgers), Jarvis Jones (Georgia) and Manti Te’o (Notre Dame).

On Sunday, Mauti also was picked as the team’s most valuable player at the annual senior banquet. 

Hill also was recently named a second-team All-American by Athlon Sports. 

Four Nittany Lions were selected to the ESPN.com and BTN.com teams: Mauti, Hill, sophomore receiver Allen Robinson and senior center Matt Stankiewitch. Freshman tight end Kyle Carter was named to just the ESPN.com squad. 

Defensive end Deion Barnes was the BTN.com’s choice for league freshman of the year. 

