Florida quarterback Michael O’Connor chooses Nittany Lions

Penn State landed Bradenton, Fla., quarterback Michael O’Connor on Saturday, the Nittany Lions’ 11th verbal commitment of the 2014 class. The 6-foot-4, 225-pound pro-style quarterback is rated as a four-star recruit by Rivals.com and 247sports.com and as a three-star prospect by Scout.com.

“They have a great business program,” said O’Connor, who visited Penn State’s campus in the spring. “I’ll get a great education there regardless of what happens on the field.”

O’Connor attends IMG Academy and is coached by former Florida State and NFL quarterback Chris Weinke.
