Penn State football chat, 8 p.m., Oct. 7

Penn State fans may need a chat tonight more than ever.

So join me from 8 to 9 tonight to talk about the shocking Nittany Lion loss to the Indiana Hoosiers.

Did the Nittany Lions go away from Zach Zwinak and the running game too much vs. Indiana?

Did the Nittany Lions go away from Zach Zwinak and the running game too much vs. Indiana?

Sound off on Bill O’Brien, the game plan, Christian Hackenberg and the offensive line.

What was most to blame for blowout defeat and where do the Lions go from here? What do you expect for Saturday’s homecoming game against Michigan?

Meanwhile, read my take on O’Brien’s message after the game and a “harsh” reality we may not have fully grasped about this team.

  1. Jon Snyder says:

One question Frank, just one: Is it possible in a football game at any level, for a QB to throw the ball to often to the same WR repeatedly ? Eventually, the opposing defense will obviously know it’s coming.

    • Frank Bodani says:

I know what you’re getting at Jon. Actually, the problem wasn’t throwing too much to Allen Robinson. It kept working. The problem was that Hackenberg didn’t have (or use) enough others. That limited things on crucial plays.

  2. just Dave says:

I am going to the game on Saturday. I think we are going to pull an upset on Michigan. What do you think?

    • Frank Bodani says:

I think things will be closer. I expect better effort from Penn State o-line and more overall energy. Key to winning, though, is forcing turnovers and controlling QB Devin Gardner.

  3. just Dave says:

What happen to the tight end plays we saw all of last year. It seems as if Hack looks for Robinson and that it.

    • Frank Bodani says:

Problems with tight ends started with Brent Wilkerson’s injury. Then Matt Lehman out for the year. Then Kyle Carter got hurt. Jesse James now has to block more.

  4. just Dave says:

Why are we at 61 schoolies this year. A whole year early. And should we go after JUCO players for the 14class?

    • Frank Bodani says:

The 61 number is because of transfers last year and guys quitting the team but staying at PSU and guys on the team but injured.
