Hometown: Millville, N.J.
High school: Millville Senior High School
Listed as: 6-foot-3, 265 pounds
Commitment date: July 1, 2013
Rated as: He is considered a 3-star prospect by Rivals.com, Scout.com and Lions247.com.

Of note: White chose Penn State over 14 other schools, including Maryland, Michigan State, Temple, Rutgers, Georgia Tech, Central Florida and Boston College. … He got his scholarship offer on June 22. … White had 80 tackles, including 14 for loss, and five sacks last year.

In his words: “You know, I always said I would get that feeling when I stepped on the campus, and I got that feeling when I went to Penn State. I just knew when it felt right.”

“I can’t get what Penn State is offering four hours away at some other place 10 to 12 hours away. They have a great criminal justice program — top five in the country — and (defensive line coach) Larry Johnson, his resume speaks for itself.”

“I wasn’t going to base a decision on one (bowl) game,” said White, referencing Penn State’s bowl ban in the wake of the Jerry Sandusky scandal. “You play in a stadium with 109,000 people, that’s a lot of exposure, more than just one game.”

“We got to see things (at Penn State) outside of the basics … We got to see what type of genuine people are at Penn State. I got to talk very, very privately with Coach O’Brien and Coach Johnson (and) I didn’t feel like they were giving me a sales pitch. They were genuine about what they were saying.”
