Revs sign first player

| | Comments (0)

The York Revolution signed the first player in franchise history Saturday, locking up former Montreal Expos center fielder Peter Bergeron.

This is a great move for couple of reasons.

Bergeron gives the Revs flexibility in the outfield. He's fast, he's good with the glove -- and he's able to play all three outfield positions.

He's also a former major leaguer, which goes a long way to destroy the notion that independent Atlantic League baseball in York is going to be nothing more than an expensive alternative to the popular townball/sandlot teams of the Central and Susquehanna leagues.

Feel free to e-mail me at jseip@ydr.com to voice your opinion of the Revs' first player.
