Team: Hake agrees to terms

Travis Hake has agreed to terms with the York Revolution, according to team officials.

Hake is the one local player everyone expected to be on the Revs roster. Drafted by the Revs in the expansion draft, Hake is a Red Lion High graduate who still lives in York County.

But the Revs have already signed middle infielders Vic Gutierrez and Rayner Bautista, casting some doubt whether Hake will be playing second or third base -- or perhaps used as a platoon player.

This could be a tough situation for Hake, 30.

He's the type of player managers love. He plays hard every day.

He won over Barnstormers manager Tom Herr when people around the league told him not to take a chance on Hake.

Hake hasn't lost a step. He still can hit, and he still has above-average speed.

But he isn't one who will sit the bench. That's one of the reasons why he walked away from the Brewers organization in 2001. He's a gamer, and he wants to play.

First-year manager Chris Hoiles has a tough decision to make in spring training. He has three middle infielders. Which one is going to make the move to third? Or is one headed to the bench?
